ALESSANDRO SALVANO

Alessandro Salvano is a dynamic young winemaker from Montelupo Albese in Piedmont. He was more or less born into winemaking, having spent time in wineries since childhood with his grandfather, who made wine. At just 28 years old, he launched the Drink Wines, Not Labels (DWNL) project in 2019, aiming to challenge traditional wine boundaries by producing high-quality wines outside established appellations.

Salvano's passion for Burgundy influences his winemaking style, which is characterized by whole-cluster fermentation, indigenous yeasts, and minimal intervention. All of Alessandro's wines come from the Langhe appellation, where he produces Langhe Chardonnay, Langhe Pinot Nero, Langhe Rosso made from Dolcetto, and finally, two Langhe Nebbiolos. His second Langhe Nebbiolo, Outside, is his top cuvée and follows a Barolo-style approach—featuring long maceration and extended aging: three years in barrels and one year in bottle before release. The grapes, of course, are harvested just outside Serralunga in Barolo. Other experiments are taking place in the cellar, such as an orange Chardonnay and direct press Nebbiolo rosé!

Alessandro is a true rising star in Piedmont and definitely one to watch!
