Domaine Arsac was founded in 1945 after Gaston Arsac returned to his land following his imprisonment as a prisoner of war. He married Thérèse and settled on the farm of La Chaumette, nestled in the beautiful Ardèche.
Passionate about viticulture and wine, he planted the first vines on the hillsides of La Chaumette. Many believed at the time that hillside cultivation was very difficult, if not impossible, but Gaston succeeded in producing his wine.
Today, the fourth generation, Sébastien Arsac and his brother Dimitri, run the winery. During their first two years in charge, the grapes were sold to cooperatives. Luckily for us, they have since started producing their own wines.
Working the vineyard with horses, using grass cover for the soil, organic compost made from the estate's cows (also certified organic), preparing herbal teas, and manually pruning and harvesting—all these tasks accomplished by the Arsac brothers are part of the ancestral know-how passed down by their grandfather.
To reveal this atypical terroir, where the vine meets the energetic mineral massif of COIRON, Sébastien and Dimitri's sole aim is to produce wines that exude freshness and the purity of the fruit.
