MATHIEU DESHAUTELS
Mathieu has taken over his parents' vineyards in Les Mesnil Sur Oger and Cramant and vinifies in his cellar in Ay. The vineyards are located in the Côte des Blancs and the cellar in Valle de la Marne.
The young producer belongs to the new generation of Champagne and is an extremely skilled lad. Besides working in his vineyards, he also teaches enology and agriculture at the university in Reims. He has experience in winemaking in Australia, South Africa, Greece as well as in Burgundy, where he worked with Claire Naudin. On top of that, he is a down-to-earth and lovable guy who puts a smile on everybody's faces.
All vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and no chemicals are used in either the vineyards or the cellar. Even though the Champagnes are made without the addition of sulfur, they are extremely well-made! Complex and mineral, yet clean and fresh.
