Baptiste Monnet

Domaine Baptiste Monnet is a brand-new domaine in Mercurey, Burgundy – and a name we expect to hear a lot more from in the years to come.

Baptiste is part of a new generation of young Burgundian vignerons. After studying in Burgundy and gaining experience working in the region, he began making wine under his own name, with 2023 marking his very first vintage.

The approach is both simple and ambitious. The vineyards are farmed organically, intervention in the cellar is kept to a minimum, and sulphur is used sparingly. But these are not wines trying to be “natural” for the sake of it. Baptiste’s style is first and foremost classic Burgundy: pure, precise and driven by terroir.

The first wine we received from Baptiste is his Bourgogne Aligoté 2023, made from grapes grown in an Aligoté vineyard around a hundred years old. It is an honest and traditional expression of Aligoté – fresh, focused and citrus-driven, yet with impressive depth, texture and length.

2023 marks the beginning of the domaine. For the 2024 and 2025 vintages, Baptiste will focus exclusively on Aligoté, before a new chapter begins with the 2026 vintage, when a newly acquired parcel of Mercurey 1er Cru will become part of the domaine.

In other words, this is only the beginning. We are incredibly happy to be following Baptiste Monnet from the very start, and we have a strong feeling this is a name we will be hearing much more about in the years to come.
