JUSTIN MAILLARD
Justin Maillard is one of the exciting new voices from the Côte des Bar – Champagne’s southernmost sub-region. After a few years working as a sommelier, Justin returned home and took over his family’s small 2.2 hectares of vineyards in 2016. Here, he mainly grows Pinot Noir on the chalky Kimmeridgian soils, completely free from pesticides or herbicides.
In the cellar, he works as gently as possible: fermenting with native yeasts, keeping sulphur additions to a minimum, and avoiding unnecessary technical interventions. The result is pure, precise Champagnes full of energy, finesse, and a clear sense of place.
Justin Maillard produces only small quantities each year – from elegant Blanc de Noirs to vibrant rosés – always with a focus on freshness, balance, and honest flavour. True “grower Champagne” where you can taste both the craftsmanship and the land it comes from.
